2. Information We Collect
INTIMO does not require an account to use the app. Core features work fully without signing up. If you choose to sign in (via email magic link, Google, or Apple), this enables optional features such as cloud backup and cross-device sync. INTIMO also uses locally generated identifiers and the information you choose to enter into the app.
We may collect and process the following categories of information:
- Device and app identifiers, such as a locally generated userId, deviceId, pairing state, app version, push token, and technical information needed to run the app.
- Profile and setup information you choose to provide, such as your name or nickname, pronouns, preferences, goals, relationship planning inputs, and onboarding choices.
- User-generated content, such as activities, reflections, wishes, schedules, notes, mood logs, cycle-related entries, intimacy planning content, and optional images you attach.
- Sensitive personal data, including health-related and intimacy-related information, such as cycle tracking data, mood check-ins, emotional and physical state inputs, and sexual or intimacy-related content you choose to store or share through the app.
- Calendar information, if you grant optional read-only calendar access, so the app can display relevant scheduling context inside INTIMO.
- Notification data, such as notification preferences, push token data, and in-app notification state.
- Support communications, such as the email address and message content you provide if you contact support.
- Diagnostics and crash information, such as technical error and crash reports.
- Anonymous telemetry events, which are sanitized in production to remove direct personal identifiers.
3. Sensitive Data
INTIMO is designed for intimate relationship support. As a result, the app may process sensitive categories of data that you choose to provide, including:
- health-related data, such as cycle tracking and mood information;
- emotional and physical state check-ins;
- sexual, intimacy-related, and relationship content;
- private reflections, wishes, plans, and notes;
- optional photos that may reveal intimate or personal information.
Please only enter or share content that you are comfortable storing in the app and, where applicable, sharing with your paired partner.
4. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide and operate INTIMO features;
- create and maintain local app state on your device;
- enable partner pairing and encrypted sync between paired devices;
- show shared activities, wishes, and relationship planning features;
- support cycle tracking, mood check-ins, and intimacy insights;
- allow optional photo attachments and optional calendar-based planning context;
- send push notifications and display in-app notifications;
- create and restore encrypted backups;
- maintain app security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, and improve stability;
- generate anonymous product telemetry and diagnostics;
- respond to support requests and privacy requests;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies.
5. Optional Account and Authentication
INTIMO works fully without an account. Core app features rely on locally generated identifiers (userId, deviceId) and do not require sign-in. However, you may optionally sign in using an email magic link, Google, or Apple to unlock additional features:
- cloud backup and restore;
- cross-device sync;
- account-linked subscription management.
If you sign in, your email address is stored securely and used only for authentication and account recovery. Pairing between partners is performed using a code or QR flow. Data needed for shared functionality may be synchronized between paired devices using end-to-end encryption.
6. Pairing, Sync, and Backups
Pairing and Sync
When you choose to pair with another user, INTIMO uses pairing codes or QR codes to connect the two devices. Shared app functionality may require information to sync between paired devices. If you share data with a paired partner, they may retain a copy on their device until they delete it or until the app syncs changes.
INTIMO uses end-to-end encryption for sync payloads. In plain language, this means your app encrypts data before it is sent, and the service used to transmit it is not intended to read the content of those encrypted payloads.
Cloud Backup
INTIMO offers backup and restore tools, including optional encrypted cloud backup.
Cloud backup snapshots are encrypted on the client side using AES-256-GCM before upload. A vault key is stored in device secure storage. For cloud backup, only an encrypted backup blob and a lookup hash are intended to be sent to the server.
Because backups are designed for recovery, you should keep your recovery information secure.
7. Permissions We Use
Depending on your choices and device settings, INTIMO may request the following permissions:
- Camera for scanning QR codes and taking photo attachments.
- Photos / Media Library for selecting and attaching images.
- Calendar (read-only) for optional calendar context inside the app.
- Notifications for push notifications and in-app alerts.
- Foreground service / wake lock on Android to support background sync behavior.
You can deny or revoke these permissions through your device settings. Some features may not work properly without the relevant permission.
8. Notifications
INTIMO may send:
- push notifications, including notifications related to shared features and sync activity;
- in-app notifications, such as notices about activities, wishes, matches, updates, and conflicts.
You can manage notification preferences inside the app and also disable notifications in your device operating system settings.
9. Anonymous Telemetry and Crash Reporting
INTIMO collects anonymous telemetry events in production to help us understand app performance and improve the product. These payloads are sanitized to remove personally identifiable information, including email, name, phone number, address, and userId.
We also use crash reporting tools to detect bugs, fix technical problems, and improve reliability. Crash reporting is configured so that default personally identifiable information is disabled.
10. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share information only in the following limited ways:
- With your paired partner, when you intentionally use shared features that are designed to sync data between paired devices.
- With service providers that help us operate the app.
- When required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, security, and the integrity of the service.
- In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale, if allowed by law and subject to appropriate safeguards.
11. Third-Party Services We Use
INTIMO currently uses the following third-party service providers:
- Supabase for backend services such as sync, storage, and edge functions.
- Expo / Expo Push Notifications for push notification delivery and related device push token handling.
- Sentry for crash reporting and diagnostics.
We do not list additional third-party processors here unless they are confirmed as part of the app's operation.
These providers may process limited technical data necessary to perform their services. Where encrypted sync or encrypted backup is used, the content is intended to be encrypted before transmission.
12. Security Measures
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data processed by INTIMO. These measures include:
- end-to-end encryption for sync payloads using AES-256-GCM;
- client-side encryption for optional cloud backups using AES-256-GCM;
- storage of sensitive encryption material in device secure storage;
- minimizing direct personal data in telemetry payloads;
- use of limited-purpose infrastructure providers for backend, push, and crash handling.
No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your device, recovery information, and any shared access secure.
13. Data Retention
We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide INTIMO, maintain security, support backups and restore, troubleshoot problems, comply with law, and enforce our rights.
In general:
- locally stored data remains on your device until you delete it, reset the app, uninstall the app, or otherwise remove it;
- synced and operational data may remain on backend systems for as long as needed to run shared functionality, maintain service integrity, and handle deletion requests;
- encrypted backup data may remain stored until it is deleted, replaced, or otherwise cleaned up through backup management or server-side cleanup processes;
- crash and diagnostic information may be retained for debugging, security, and service improvement;
- anonymous telemetry may be retained for analytics, product improvement, and reliability monitoring.
Because backup and sync systems can involve encrypted snapshots, queued processing, and operational logs, deletion may not always be instantaneous.
14. Deletion and Your Controls
You have several ways to control your data:
- You can use the in-app "Reset all data" function. This deletes local databases, files, and keys, and attempts server cleanup.
- You can revoke app permissions for camera, photos, calendar, and notifications in your device settings.
- You can disable notifications in app settings and in your device operating system settings.
- You can uninstall the app to remove locally stored app data from your device, subject to how your operating system handles secure storage and backups.
- You can contact us at intimo.support@gmail.com to request access, correction, or deletion, or to request help regarding privacy, deletion, or support.
Please note that if you have used optional encrypted cloud backup, some backup-related encrypted data may persist until deleted or cleaned up through the backup system. Also, limited legal, security, or technical records may be retained where reasonably necessary.
15. International Processing
Depending on the infrastructure used to operate INTIMO, information may be processed on systems located in countries other than your own. Where this happens, we aim to use appropriate technical and contractual safeguards consistent with applicable law.
16. Children and Minors
INTIMO is not intended for children.
Because INTIMO is designed for intimate relationship use and may process sensitive health-related and intimacy-related information, you should not use the app if you are a child or below the age of majority in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children or minors. If you believe a child or minor has provided personal data through INTIMO, please contact us at intimo.support@gmail.com so we can review and take appropriate action.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version and update the Effective Date above. Your continued use of INTIMO after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you accept the updated policy, to the extent permitted by law.
